Chelsea strolled to a fourth consecutive win of the season, as the momentum continues to grow for Frank Lampard’s side – the 4-1 away with at Southampton was the perfect way for the Blues to enter another international break.

However, there’s been confusion over why goalscorer Mason Mount received stick from the Southampton fans after scoring, there were audible boos ringing out for the 20-year-old England international – scoring Chelsea’s second of the game.

The reason for the Southampton fans getting so riled up with Mason Mount’s goal celebration? The midfielder grew up being a supporter and season ticket holder of their arch-rivals Portsmouth.

On top of that Mason Mount revealed last year, via Portsmouth News, that he turned down a move to Southampton in-favour of Chelsea, while also admitting that wearing the Saints training kit was too difficult;

I went there [Southampton] and I had to wear the kit and just didn’t want to in training.’

No disrespect but I am a Pompey boy! I found it too hard wearing that kit.’

It was hard turning Pompey down but the difference between them and Chelsea was massive.’

Mason Mount is now on England duty with key Euro 2020 qualifying fixtures against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.
