The future surrounding current Chelsea manager Antonio Conte just seems to rumble on and on. Imminent announcements have been stated a number of times in the media that Maurizio Sarri will be unveiled, only for nothing to materialise.

It is expected that the former Napoli boss will be in-charge at Stamford Bridge but an intriguing spanner has been thrown in the works, as Antonio Conte’s brother Daniele Conte posted on his Instagram a picture of the boss in full Blues gear reporting for pre-season training.

Conte’s brother wrote on Instagram;Come on Chelsea Come on Team Conte!!!’ – the choice of words could be interpreted to mean that the Italian is very much the man to lead the club for another season in west London, or perhaps just to remind everyone that the speculation won’t effect his work and commitment until no longer required.

Few Chelsea fans would have expected to see the Premier League and FA Cup winning boss back at training for the 2018/19 season after the amount of speculation after the last season ended. No doubt this particular image will create even more debate over what direction the club is taking ahead of a challenging looking campaign.

Antonio Conte was back at Cobham Training Ground on Saturday and Sunday with a much depleted squad – including the majority of the first team that have been on World Cup duty. The Italian will be due up to £10 million in compensation should the club decide to opt for Sarri to lead the club forward and that pay-off might be the very reason the whole move is being held up.

Conte is also expected to lead today’s and this week’s training sessions with players such as Ross Barkley and Cesc Fabregas in attendance at some point.
