Chelsea could soon very well be feeling blue, with developing reports including in the Daily Mail, stating that Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to reject a new contract with the club and instead push for a move to Bayern Munich.
The staggering contract offer is said to be around £85,000 a-week for the 18-year old, who once again failed to start a Premier League game at the weekend – getting just 10 minutes of action as Arsenal held out for a 2-0 victory.
More new faces are expected at Chelsea, including Christian Pulisic in the summer, and it’s little surprise that Callum Hudson-Odoi has one eye on a club like Bayern Munich who are showing real intent on signing the England U19 international.
Arjen Robben is set to retire in the summer and Bayern Munich are looking to Callum Hudson-Odoi as a long-term replacement for the Dutch man, and the most recent bid at around £35 million goes a long way to showing they reckon the Englishman could be an integral part of their plans going forward.
Unfortunately for Blues fans, the prospect of seeing Hudson-Odoi leave is looking more and more likely with the club having failed to push through youngsters to be first teamers in recent years. The additional pressure of getting back amongst the title-race for Maurizio Sarri means proven players are likely to be given the nod ahead of the 18-year old.
Another issue for Chelsea is that Hudson-Odoi’s contract runs down in 2020 and if they are to maximise the player’s value, if they can’t get him to sign a new deal, they will likely have to sell now or risk a much lower offer further down the line.
