One of Chelsea’s top youth prospects Ethan Ampadu has been restricted to just a place on the substitutes bench this season for the Blues, and it could be that the club decide to loan out the 18-year old in January.

Championship clubs such as Aston Villa and Derby County are the two are who are being mentioned as clubs that could help Ethan Ampadu get the gametime he wants – that is according to Goal.

The two Championship clubs in-mention both have links to Chelsea with John Terry the assistant at Villa and Frank Lampard managing the Rams to a promotion push in the first months of the season.

The report in Goal also says that Cardiff City, also in the Premier League, wanted Ethan Ampadu on-loan back in the summer transfer window, only for Chelsea to brush off the attention due to the Welshman’s impressive pre-season performances.

Having made a number of appearances for the Blues under Antonio Conte last season, including in the FA Cup, League Cup and once in the Premier League. However, despite being on the bench for Chelsea’s Europa League win last week Ampadu didn’t get on the pitch.

Ampadu is now a fully-fledged Welsh international, impressing in his competitive debut against Ireland back in September. The midfielder helped the Welsh to a 4-1 win, and the then 17-year old grabbed himself an assist and earned plenty of plaudits for his commanding performance.

With qualification sealed from the Europa League group stage and the fixtures only likely to become more important in the knockout phases, game time for fringe players such as Ampadu will become even more restricted.

With Tammy Abraham on-loan at Aston Villa, along with Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori on-loan at Derby, Chelsea will feel comfortable letting either of their club legends Terry or Lampard help Ampadu’s career progress – should a loan deal be on the table.
