Charly Musonda has revealed that he was in tears after scoring his first Chelsea goal in the 5-1 Carabao Cup victory over Nottingham Forest (via The Metro).

It was easy to see that Charly Musonda enjoyed the match against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening.

The youngster had gotten his first Chelsea start and capped an excellent performance with a wonderful first-half goal.

The 20-year-old Belgian was clearly delighted with the strike and now, Musonda has revealed that he was close to tears.

“It was my first start and it was very exciting,” Musonda said after the match,

“To be honest, I was more nervous before the game. I had to wait for so long for the game to start, a 7.45pm kick-off, so when the game started I was at ease and I felt really good.

“It was an emotional moment to score my first goal at the Bridge. I can’t even remember it now! I was very happy and you could see that. I was in tears, to be honest.

“If the lads didn’t come and get me I don’t know what would have happened! It was a great moment.”

It certainly was a great moment. Musonda was hugely impressive on the night and after that showing, he could be in the running for his first Premier League start before long.
