Chelsea fans are getting fickle these days. The team really needed us to get behind them today but once again the Bridge was only marginally louder than the next-door cemetery.

The club came kicking and screaming into the new Millennium by unveiling a new state-of-the-art scoreboard today. Maybe the crowd and the team were distracted by the technology as the first half was as flat as a pancake.

Wimbledon, or Norway ‘B’ as they are now known, had the better chances before the break. The Blues fans were once again denied the chance to see our own Norwegian hero start a game. Weah’s partnership with Sutton is all huff and very little puff.

Chelsea dominated the second half but with little end product until late on. The crowd yelled for Zola to come on and eventually they got their wish. However, shortly after Gianfranco’s introduction, Wimbledon took the lead through Lund.

At 1-0 down the Blues looked beaten but Poyet’s spectacular equaliser brought the team and the crowd back to life.

Finally the Bridge made some noise and the team responded. Weah and Morris sealed the win with two more fine goals.

Three more points and another step towards the all-important qualification for next season’s Champions League.
