Despite signing for Barcelona for around £105 million from Borussia Dortmund, Ousmane Dembele is apparently set for a massive exit from the Catalan giants – that is via Spanish news source RAC1 via the Mirror.
The report says that Chelsea have been put on alert about the attacker’s availability, who are among a few Premier League clubs interested in the World Cup winner, amid suggestions that Barcelona are ready to cash-in.
Ousmane Dembele was left out of the club’s Champions League victory last week against Inter, because he was late for a team meeting. Dembele might have started amid Lionel Messi’s injury absence, but instead missed out completely. Again in the victory over Real Madrid, Dembele only made a late substitute appearance.
The 21-year old, the Mirror say, wants Champions League football so that could throw a move to west London in doubt, but the attractive style, unbeaten Premier League run and real opportunity for silverware and a return to Europe’s elite competition next season could sway Dembele’s decision.
Added with the fact Chelsea are on the hunt for a new attacking force, Dembele could become a focal point in Maurizio Sarri’s side for the long-term.
Arsenal and Liverpool are also supposedly interested in the transfer of Ousmane Dembele, but both have their attacks pretty much set at this current moment, so the attraction of Chelsea and first team selection could swing things to the Blues.
Undoubtedly all of this could blow over and Barcelona may reverse their stance on telling the Frenchman to ‘find a new club’. However, his time in Spain hasn’t quite gone to plan due to early injuries and a plethora of talent in competition for his starting place.
