Alvaro Morata’s time at Chelsea finally appears to be at a close, with Spanish reporter Guillem Balague claiming that the striker is primed to join Atletico Madrid after agreeing terms.
La Liga side Sevilla were the early front runners but Atletico Madrid’s interest will take Alvaro Morata back to the Spanish capital, less than two years after joining Chelsea from Real Madrid.
In quotes carried on the BBC Sport website via the 5 live Football Daily Podcast Guillem Balague said of Alvaro Morata’s imminent departure;
It seems to be a matter of finding a buyer for (Nikola) Kalinic.”
Everything else seems to be in place for Morata to abandon what feels like a nightmare.”
The seemingly sticking point in Morata departing west London is Atletico agreeing to sell one of their existing strikers, with the most likely being Nikola Kalinic, but Gelson Martins’ name is also being mentioned as potential departure.
Morata is likely to link up with another former Blues striker in Diego Costa at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
