Chelsea’s weekend opponents and cross-London rivals West Ham are emerging as a surprise possible next destination for striker Alvaro Morata – according to TransferMarketWeb via Daily Star.
It’s stated that the Spaniard, who was dropped in last weekend’s Premier League win over Cardiff, could be put on the market for loan, as Chelsea look to reshape their attack once the January transfer window reopens.
Alvaro Morata who was seemingly close to a move to Italian giants AC Milan in the summer transfer window, was also being reportedly monitored by Manuel Pellegrini’s Hammers, and his continued frustrations this season could lead to the east London side pouncing in January.
Other clubs, according to the Daily Star, also monitoring the potential availability of the 25-year old are Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan who fell short of clinching a deal a month or so back.
While on paper it would seem like quite a signing for West Ham, Chelsea fans will be quick to remind their London rivals that they would be getting a striker who has only scored four goals in the whole of 2018 for the Blues.
The reports state nothing other than a loan-deal is being speculated at this time, and while a permanent transfer seems unlikely, it could materialise if a suitable replacement is available in the January transfer window.
Olivier Giroud’s impressive leading of the line last Saturday, along with the way the Frenchman linked up with Eden Hazard, could mean even less game time in the immediate future for Alvaro Morata. However, the Spaniard is expected to start against PAOK in the Europa League today.
