With just matter of days until the festive period ends and the January transfer window opens, it’s likely that the rumour mill will intensify daily as Chelsea look to recruit to fit Maurizio Sarri’s demands.

One such player is former Liverpool target Nabil Fekir at Lyon, who came so close to signing a contract at Anfield, only for the deal to fall through in the eleventh hour.

French news source L’Equipe claims thats Chelsea have appointed (or commissioned) an experienced agent, named Pini Zahavi, who has reportedly ‘made contact’ with the French international’s team – ahead of escalating talk that the Blues will make a bid next month.

This past summer saw Liverpool agree a £53 million deal with Lyon for Nabil Fekir, so if Chelsea are to get the deal over the line it’s only conceivable that the Ligue 1 club will hold out for at least that fee and possibly more.

In 16 games in all competitions, Fekir has netted six times and chipped in with four assists. However, the big decision for Lyon is whether they get the premium price-tag out of their attacking midfielder with there only being 18 months left on his deal.

Whatever happens and who ever is targeted officially in January by the Blues and Sarri, the biggest surprise for fans will be if no new first team ready player actually signs before the deadline. Incoming are expected, and a player with the undoubted quality of Fekir could be good business – despite injury concerns.
