In what would seemingly be a transfer deal that would send shockwaves through the Premier League, Chelsea are being cited as a possible next destination for Manchester United’s Paul Pogba – that is according to French news source L’Equipe.
L’Equipe suggest that while it would be a tricky transfer to navigate, the temptation to link up in midfielder with his countryman N’Golo Kante could be a major draw, as well as the fact that he could remain in the Premier League.
The draw-back, says the report, would be that the Europa League would be a downwards step, albeit for this season at least. However, it would be undeniable that if Chelsea are to continue their early good form in all competitions, then Paul Pogba could be switching to a rival that could offer real opportunities for silverware – and a seemingly short stay away from the Champions League.
While Chelsea would no doubt love to get one over on their rivals by signing their biggest ever transfer in Pogba (for £89 million back in 2016), question marks remain on whether the Blues could afford the probable inflated asking-price.
Paul Pogba has showed in glimpses why he has been dubbed a ‘world-class’ midfielder and impressed with France in the summer, lifting the World Cup to cap off a memorable campaign for the 25-year old.
The Blues aren’t the only club mentioned in the report, with Manchester City, Barcelona, Juventus, Real Madrid and Paris-St Germain all in the mix in regards to the Paul Pogba transfer speculation. Yet this whole situation could change should there be a change in manager at United – for now though, Blues fans should continue to monitor if this story has legs going forward.
