Ahead of the FA Cup final on Saturday, Chelsea are seemingly closing the door on Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund signing Michy Batshuayi on a permanent deal, after impressing while on-loan in Germany (via the Mirror).
The Belgian striker, now 24-years old, scored seven in 10 Bundesliga goals and netted an additional two in the Europa League for Dortmund, however his season was cut short with a ligament injury.
Chelsea still rate Michy Batshuayi and want to keep old of the striker in the event that manager Antonio Conte is not at the club next season, leaving it up to a potential next boss to make the decision on whether Batshuayi has a future at Stamford Bridge.
However Chelsea, according to the Mirror, are ready to make Alvaro Morata available to Borussia Dortmund for around £60 million – recouping as much as possible from their deal last year. The Germans are reportedly looking at putting together a bid for the Italian, who has not delivered enough to win over the Blues hierarchy and fans, since a big money move from Real Madrid last summer.
Juventus continue to be linked to re-signing Alvaro Morata, but it could be that Borussia Dortmund who do want to sign Michy Batshuayi, will instead push on to sign Morata who does a very similar job up-front in holding up the ball and putting the ball in the back of the net.
Morata’s total goals of just 15 in 47 appearances this season has ultimately played its part in Chelsea finishing 5th – goals and confidence up-front have been an issue, but the club will be hoping he can add to the goal scoring tally in Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester United.
