Chelsea have been handed a massive boost in the bid to renew two of their top priority contracts this season, with midfielder N’Golo Kante reportedly signalling his ‘openness’ to putting pen to paper for the long-term with the Blues – according to Goal.

The deal would break the club’s record payment for a player with a contract tipped to be in the region of £290,000k a-week – with N’Golo Kante currently on a £150,000k a-week deal.

Chelsea’s determination to clinch Kante’s signature for the long-term is on the back of continued interest from Paris St-Germain who have shown an eagerness to bring in the Frenchman – but Goal states that the 27-year old is showing no signs of a rush to return to Paris where he originates from.

Since bursting onto the scene with Leicester, winning the Premier League title with the Foxes in his debut season, he has gone on to win another league title with the Blues and an FA Cup last May. The crowning achievement for a midfielder barely known a few years ago is lifting the World Cup in Russia this past summer.

Barcelona are also reportedly monitoring Kante’s contract situation but don’t appear to be making any advances, yet anyway.

This season has seen a shift from N’Golo Kante’s defensive midfield role, instead playing higher up under Maurizio Sarri and has, under the new boss, proven to be an automatic starter for Chelsea once again.

With 16 appearances already this season and chipping in with a goal, and with the team doing so well with an unbeaten run, it could yet turn out to be another silverware-laden season for the Frenchman.
