Chelsea are quickly back in-action for their last game of 2019 and it’s a big one, away at Arsenal in the 14:00 GMT kick-off in the Premier League.
Three points away at the Emirates will be crucial if Chelsea are to keep their grip on the top four – victory will take Lampard’s side four points clear of nearest rival’s Manchester United.
Frank Lampard revealed after the Blues’ midweek defeat (via Chelsea FC official) that it will be touch and go as to whether Marcos Alonso will be fit for Arsenal, but it’s not so good news for Reece James;
“Marcos Alonso picked up a muscle injury against Tottenham but hopefully he’ll be back for Arsenal. Reece James won’t – he has an ankle issue at the moment.”
The Chelsea line up vs Arsenal is boosted by the return of Mateo Kovacic from a one-match suspension that saw the Croat miss the defeat to Southampton.
After a shock loss post-Christmas, Frank Lampard is expected to shuffle his Chelsea line up vs Arsenal, potentially brining in Mateo Kovacic, Marcos Alonso and Mason Mount, as well as switching to a back four instead of the five against Southampton.
Predicted Chelsea line up vs Arsenal
Defence: César Azpilicueta, Fikayo Tomori, Antonio Rudiger, Marcos Alonso.
Midfield: Christian Pulisic, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante, Willian.
