Chelsea have a quick turnover in the Premier League with a midweek home matchup against Aston Villa, just days after a shock defeat to London rivals West Ham.
The game on Wednesday will also mark the first time that legendary Blues defender John Terry will return to Stamford Bridge since leaving to play for Aston Villa. The now assistant manager will take his seat in the rival dugout, but is sure to receive a warm reception back in west London.
The Blues where of course where without the likes of Tammy Abraham and Ross Barkley for the weekend loss and Frank Lampard spoke in the usual pre-match press conference on Tuesday (via Chelsea FC official), regarding the England duos availability vs Aston Villa;
“We are going to give him every possible chance to be fit. There is still some pain in the area of the injury, we will make a judgement call tomorrow [Wednesday].”
“It is painful for him so it about the pain threshold and does it affect his movement, so I don’t want to commit today [on his availability].”
“Ross Barkley has been sick, he was ill Sunday night. He is in this morning but not recovered enough to be available.”
The Chelsea line up vs Aston Villa is likely to see Tammy Abraham back in-place of Olivier Giroud – that is of course as long as the injury isn’t too limiting for the 22-year-old.
Interestingly at the weekend Jorginho came off for N’Golo Kante, and with the quick turnaround it could be that the French World Cup winner comes back in to the Chelsea line up vs Aston Villa.
Predicted Chelsea line up vs Aston Villa
