Chelsea are back in-action seeking a first Premier League victory since their excellent away at Spurs, the visit of Burnley should provide Frank Lampard’s Blues the perfect opportunity to get their first three points of 2020.
The big question leading up the game on Saturday was whether or not Chrisitan Pulisic would be fit enough to start on the left after missing out last time out with injury. It was the reverse fixture at Turf Moor that the American exploded on the scene at the Blues, with a hat-trick that set the 21-year-old on a fine run of form.
Frank Lampard though in his pre-match press-conference (via Chelsea FC official) clarified that Pulisic is out for a few more weeks, as well as news regarding Marcos Alonso;
“He was injured in training last Saturday before Nottingham Forest. It’s a tendon injury in the adductor so we’ll have to see how quickly he recovers because it’s quite a nasty injury and he was in pain when it happened.”
“Marcos Alonso is recovering. He trained today but he won’t be ready.”
In Christian Pulisic’s absence Mason Mount is the likely to step in, but Callum Hudson-Odoi impressed in the FA Cup and has staked his claim for a place on the wing.
CFCnet are expecting a host of changes to the Chelsea line up vs Burnley after a rated squad saw off the challenge of Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup. Reece James and César Azpilicueta look set to start in the full-back positions, while Willian will be a straight swap for Pedro.
Tammy Abraham is almost guaranteed to come back-in for Michy Batshuayi who played the full 90 in the cup last weekend, with only Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho the only survivors from the last Chelsea starting XI.
Predicted Chelsea line up vs Burnley
