Chelsea manager Frank Lampard will make a late-call on midfielder Mason Mount who is in a race against the early-kick off on Saturday to be selected.
The midfield is boosted by the timely return to fitness of N’Golo Kante, with Jorginho suspended, Mason Mount a doubt and the news from the pre-match press-conference (via Chelsea FC Official) that Ross Barkley is ruled out for Chelsea line up vs Crystal Palace in the Premier League;
“Ross [Barkley] has got an ongoing issue so he’s not in the squad tomorrow,” Frank Lampard told the assembled press ahead of the clash vs Crystal Palace.
“With Mason [Mount], he’s in the squad, we’re giving him another 24 hours and we’ll make a call on that one in the morning [Saturday].”
The gap in-midfield, should Mount not be declared fit, could be filled by another of Chelsea’s exciting youngsters, Billy Gilmour – who of course impressed during pre-season.
There could be a change at the back too, with Emerson and Reece James vying for a starting spot in the predicted Chelsea line up vs Crystal Palace, possibly at the expense of Marcos Alonso.
