Chelsea host Liverpool in the FA Cup fifth round on Tuesday, with both sides surely keen on getting back to winning ways – the Blues fresh off a comeback draw last weekend and the Reds suffering a first league loss this season.
Speaking ahead of kick-off (via Chelsea FC official) in the unusual Tuesday night time-slot for an FA Cup game (not a replay), Chelsea manager Frank Lampard revealed that there would need to further changes after Danish defender Andreas Christensen is all-but ruled out for the visit of Liverpool;
“Andreas Christensen has got a small issue which we are going to give another 24 hours, but probably puts him in out of the game.”
“Other than that we have no Tammy Abraham, no Christian Pulisic, no Callum Hudson-Odoi and no N’Golo Kante.”
In terms of the predicted Chelsea line up vs Liverpool in the FA Cup fifth round, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is expected to be back amongst the sticks, after a six-game exile.
Lampard could once again opt for a back three with James and Alonso taking up the wing-back positions – Kurt Zouma could also been given game-time in place of César Azpilicueta.
Liverpool may opt to rotate once again which could work in Chelsea’s favour at Stamford Bridge – with the Reds potentially putting all their focus on getting over the finish-line in the league and overturning a 1-0 deficit against Atletico Madrid.
