Chelsea are back in-action after the international break and it’s quite the fixture to get things rolling again, Manchester City away, and an opportunity to further establish a grip on the top four.
Frank Lampard spoke to the assembled media (via Chelsea FC Official) ahead of Man City vs Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday, with good and potentially bad news when it comes to the fitness of two potential starters in the Chelsea line up vs Man City;
“[Christian Pulisic] missed the two games [for the USA] but he’s started to train again this midweek so he’s in contention to play.”
“Callum [Hudson-Odoi] is probably the one who has a hamstring issue picked up in the England game so he will struggle to be in contention for this game but we’re hoping it’s more short-term.”
Chelsea are the form side heading into this trip to the champions, and should they pick up a memorable away win at the Eithad they would open up a four point lead over Pep Guardiola’s side, with the potential to move into second-place above Leicester.
Cesar Azpilicueta was rested last-time out with Reece James favoured, however it’s expected that the experienced Spaniard will return to the Chelsea starting line-up vs Man City, partnering Fikayo Tomori, Kurt Zouma and Emerson in-defence.
With Christian Pulisic seemingly declared fit to play against Man City, he will be hoping to add to a run of five goals in three games, alongside second-top goalscorer in the Premier League – Tammy Abraham.
More good, timely news ahead of this huge Saturday showdown in the Premier League is the return of Jorginho, who has now served his one-match ban that ruled him out of the Crystal Palace victory.
Predicted Chelsea line up vs Man City
Defence: Cesar Azpilicueta, Kurt Zouma, Fikayo Tomori, Emerson.
Midfield: Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Willian.
Attack: Tammy Abraham.
