Chelsea have the chance on Wednesday in the League Cup to not just advance to the quarter-final but to put right a 4-0 opening day defeat to their opponents Manchester United.

Things have gone quite well since that defeat at Old Trafford, and it’s Chelsea who sit comfortably in the top four, while Manchester United have been left to play catch-up with just 10 games played.

Frank Lampard revealed, via Chelsea FC Official, that changes are likely, but they won’t be made for the sake of it and revealed which two players are definitely missing through injury;

I have to be aware of the fact that we haven’t changed the team very much.”

The demands on the players are even more in the modern day so I have to take those things into account but we’re not taking this game lightly even if I make changes – I’ll make them because I believe in the squad being strong throughout.”

[N’Golo] Kante isn’t fit, neither is [Antonio] Rudiger.”

Michy Batshuayi, Christian Pulisic, Reece James, Emerson and Willy Caballero are expected to be among the players forming the ‘changes’ that Chelsea manager Frank Lampard mentioned in his pre-match press-conference.

The American Pulisic captured all the headlines this past weekend with a memorable hat-trick over Burnley and is almost certain to be given another start to hopefully continue his momentum on Wednesday in the League Cup.

Michy Batshuayi is also expected to come in to the predicted Chelsea line-up vs Man Utd, giving a rest to Tammy Abraham who has been a constant in the Blues XI this season. Batshuayi scored the winner last week against Ajax and will no doubt be looking to prove another goalscoring reminder to Lampard and the Stamford Bridge faithful.
