Chelsea are up to third after a midweek win over Palace but they could drop to fifth if they fail to win against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, and both Leicester and Manchester United pick up victories.
Ahead of kick-off it’s expected that Blues boss Frank Lampard will make a few changes to the predicted Chelsea line up vs Sheff Utd, with the likes of Ross Barkley, Andreas Christensen and Billy Gilmour missing out – the latter has just undergone surgery.
Lampard told the press via Chelsea FC official that the young Scot is set to miss a considerable amount of game time, having played for around 80 mins against Palace in the week;
“Unfortunately we estimate he will be out for somewhere between three and four months. I am obviously very disappointed as we all are here, and Billy is himself. I spoke with him yesterday at length and just gave him support, being there for him.”
Antonio Rudiger and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are the likely inclusions in the Chelsea starting XI vs Sheff Utd, with Lampard likely to bring the experienced German back into defence after conceding twice last time out.
