Chelsea are still holding on to a faint hope that their most recent appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against their transfer ban will allow them to buy players this summer.

If indeed they succeed, then expect the Blues to move swiftly on replacing Eden Hazard – who in case you completely missed it, has joined Real Madrid for a fee up to £130 million.

The player right at the top of that transfer shortlist is Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey, with both clubs, say the Metro, willing to do a deal at around £80 million.

The 21-year-old Jamaican international has been tipped to join Chelsea on a number of occasions, but Hazard’s exit will see that pursuit move from speculation to a firm bid, according to the report.

Leon Bailey’s form this past season for Leverkusen will be questioned by Blues fans keen to see the club spend the Hazard money wisely – in 39 appearances the winger scored just five and assisted a further five.

Another potential transfer target for Chelsea should Leon Bailey not be an option, is David Neres as Ajax. The 22-year-old Brazilian impressed as the Dutch champions reached the Champions League semi-final, scoring 12 goals and contributing with 15 assists.
