Good afternoon Blues and welcome to the midweek edition of Chelsea fresh – where we take a look at the latest news, transfer rumours and anything else surrounding the Stamford Bridge club.

First of all, misfiring lacklustre front man Diego Costa is back in the mood and has a stark warning for the rest of the Premier League. Costa is due to start on Saturday after a three match ban and has also had the International break to work hard on his training. He had the following to say to Chelsea TV regarding his time off.

“It’s been really important for me, I have been able to train with my own specific schedule to help me get better and better. The sessions have been good and I have been able to benefit from being here. I’ve been working on what I needed to work on and I am happy about that.”

Speaking about his support he is getting from the fans he said, “You never quite get used to it but it’s great because it makes you realise that you’re popular at a club that supports you, that people trust you. That’s all really important to me. Hopefully, we can start on a good winning run for them all.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea are still thought to be monitoring the situation of two Spanish creative sparks Isco and Jorge Koke, both of whom are on the short-list of the reigning league champions. Manchester United are also in the running for both players who could be available for transfer.

Finally, according to reputable source Calcio Mercato, young Greek defender Kostas Manolas has joined the list of January defender targets for Chelsea along with John Stones and Marquinhos.

Manolas is highly regarded by Manager Jose Mourinho and could be a more realistic target. The 24-year old is a Greek International turning out for AS Roma in Serie A. He is a highly rated 6ft 2in defender who fits the bill for talent in the search for John Terry’s long term replacement and should be available should Chelsea make the move.
