Good afternoon Blues and welcome to Friday’s edition of Chelsea Fresh – where we take a look at the latest Chelsea news, transfer rumours and anything else surrounding the Stamford Bridge club.
First of all, Jose Mourinho has vowed to remain less vocal and out of the press in the next few weeks after a constant string of negativity surrounding the Chelsea Manager. Along with an incident with a teenage fan that was totally blown out of proportion and his critisism of referee’s and players – he is thought to want to endure a quiet period now.
I for one am happy to hear this, as our focus needs to be on the pitch and carry on turning our fortunes around and playing some decent football again.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi has actually made people believe that he may well leave Barcelona and not only that, move to the Premier League! But the excitement soon wears off when you see the source of this story is actually The Sun.
And then when you read further in to this, they are actually claiming that any move will not happen until 2017 when he has a year left on his contract and a move will be more realistic. If anything was to happen before then, The injured Argentine would have a £180 million release clause on him.
Apparently, Chelsea and Manchester City have both made contact already regarding the availability of Messi, who would be 30 years of age in 2017. Pinch of salt here Blues unfortunately, it’s basically a non-story.
Everton are working intelligently to tie over their biggest talent in John Stones. The club have apparently entered talks with Stones over signing a new deal, despite the England International having over three years left on his current one. With Chelsea expected to come back in with another offer in January, Everton are cleverly working to get his fee even higher should any deals be negotiated.
But Everton are remaining convinced that Stones is not for sale, it will be on the player if he wants to move that badly to push it through himself.
An alternative to Stones is Aymeric Laporte from Atletico Bilbao. The French Under 21-year old international is one of the highest rated young centre backs around and has also attracted interest from Barcelona.
His club have slapped a £35 million price tag on their starlet and will be willing to sell the 21-year old for that price, Chelsea are monitoring this situation closely and are thought to be interested in paying the fee.
