Good morning Blues and welcome to Tuesday mornings version of Chelsea Fresh – where we take a look at the latest news, transfer rumours and anything in between at Stamford Bridge.
First up this morning a quick bit of transfer news – yesterday it was reported that Chelsea will move to sign Victor Valdes from Manchester United in January with the fear of a long term injury to Thibaut Courtois. This rumour has heated up even more today with most of the UK press sources reporting some evidence to the move.
There is also talk once again that Real Madrid will be challenging Chelsea to the signature of John Stones in the summer. Stones is a public main target for Chelsea but his ability is attracting the best clubs in the world.
Chelsea have denied that there has been a training ground bust up between club captain John Terry and out of form striker Diego Costa. There was evident tension between the two on the pitch during the defeat at Everton on the weekend but the club have been quick to deny any further fall outs.
With Chelsea sitting 17th in the league and enduring their worst start to the top flight in 29 years, there are visible tensions and issues amongst players, staff and the board alike as they get ready to put their season back on the rails in the Champions League this week.
Other reports have suggested that Jose Mourinho has banned any banter between players until the side get back on form. I don’t believe that there is anything to this however, it’s not like you can ban smiling and joking at a work place. I simply feel that this is a case of officials getting serious and getting down to professional business and taking it seriously – not an actual rule implemented by Mourinho.
Finally – as Mourinho is expected to make some changes to the starting line up this week, Roman Abramovich has apparently remained calm and relaxed about the situation and maintains his full backing to Jose Mourinho – with reports further suggesting that he’s told the Manager that there will be more funds available to bring in players in January. Which will be a pleasing read to supporters.
That’s it for now Blues, but don’t forget to follow my Twitter here for the latest Chelsea news @cfcneteditor
