Good Afternoon Blues and welcome to Saturdays edition of Chelsea Fresh – where we take a look at the latest news, transfer rumours and anything in between surrounding Stamford Bridge.
As Chelsea continue to get back to winning ways with a second victory in the space of three days gaining a huge 2-0 win over derby rivals Arsenal, Jose Mourinho has been given the reassurance of financial backing to sign players in January.
The Blues Boss hasn’t wasted any time in sending scouts on various missions. The main story this week has been their interest in Valencia full back Jose Gaya, who is also wanted by Manchester United.
There have been fresh reports that Chelsea are preparing an offer for the new year and will be willing to match his £36.6 million release clause.
Gaya is one of the best left back prospects in world football right now and has broke on to the scene playing in the Serie A for Valencia. The 20-year old is a quick all round full back who is impressing for Spain at youth level.
Chelsea of course have Baba Rahman who has just signed this season but he is there only recognised left back and with Branislav Ivanovic’s future in doubt – Gaya is being looked at to come in and be competition in that area as Mourinho prefers to have two top players in each position.
Ivanovic is yet to sign a contract extension and many pundits are predicting that his Chelsea career will be up at the end of this season as Mourinho searches for new and young blood at the back. The 31-year old is struggling with Chelsea and is showing some decline.
Finally, it has once again been said that Chelsea will move back in for John Stones in January, knowing that the England International can also play at right back. There are predictions that Roman Abramovich has given the all clear to bring Stones in to Stamford Bridge, at all costs.
