Chelsea have been handed a Champions League last-16 draw against Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in today’s draw in Nyon.
The Blues always knew this was going to be tricky Champions League last-16 draw, knowing prior that they would get one of Barcelona, Juventus, Bayern Munich, PSG or Leipzig.

Chelsea might have preferred Leipzig in their ideal Champions League draw, however dodging the likes of PSG, Juventus and Barcelona and drawing Bayern Munich may not give Frank Lampard too many headaches – the German champions are in mixed form domestically.
Chelsea will play their first leg at Stamford Bridge against Bayern Munich on either the 18-19th February or 25-26th February, and the second leg on either the 10-11th March or 17-18th March 2020, at the Allianz Arena.
Chelsea famously won their one and only Champions League against their last-16 opponents Bayern Munich back in 2012 – the two clubs have met only four times competitively, with each winning two apiece.
Bayern Munich topped their group ahead of London rivals Tottenham, while Chelsea finished second in their group just behind Valencia, but helped knock last season’s Champions League semi-finalists Ajax out of the competition.
If Chelsea make it past Bayern Munich in the new year, Frank Lampard and Blues fans can look forward to the next time a Champions League draw rolls around, and that will be on the 20th March 2020 to decide the quarter-finalists.
