It’s been a transfer story that’s been bubbling away at Chelsea for a number of weeks, and with less than a month to the January transfer window, an apparent contract offer has been tabled.
According to a report in Football.London, Chelsea have offered Bayern Munich’s David Alaba a ‘three-year deal’ and while that will be appreciated by the Austrian, a four-year contract is what is wanted by the player and his agent.
Alaba, 28, is free to talk to any club in January with his contract up at the German champions next summer – a player of his pedigree and CV will want a lucrative deal that will likely see out his last best-performing years at a top club.
Chelsea have assembled arguably one of the most exciting squads in Europe, built for winning major honours domestically and in Europe.
The report says that Chelsea are very much front of the queue to sign Alaba after talks to renew at Bayern Munich broke down.
