Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has reportedly instructed the Blues to check out the availability of a forward being dubbed Stoke City’s ‘hottest property’, but face competition from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.
The player at the centre of the clubs’ attention is a 16-year-old Dutch forward Mohamed Sankoh, according to a report in Goal.
Stoke’s finances could be further strained should they face a second consecutive relegation, on top of the doubt surrounding football as a whole due to the ongoing pandemic which has stopped all sport across the globe – as such they may find it difficult to turn down lucrative approaches from either Chelsea or Atletico.
Chelsea’s targeting of Mohamed Sankoh would almost certainly see the Dutch forward head to their academy setup initially, before hopefully breaking into the first team picture in the coming seasons.
The report compares Mohamed Sankoh to former Blues striker Romelu Lukaku, due to his physical attributes and successful strike rate (at youth level).
