Amid all the uncertainty one decision appears to be all but set in stone ahead of next season – Gonzalo Higuain’s loan deal will be terminated after an unspectacular couple of months at the club.

The Argentine has scored just three goals in 10 appearances for Chelsea since joining on a loan-deal, which can be extended through next season and an option to buy for around €40 million.

However, Higuain is very much a pick by manager Maurizio Sarri, and with increasing doubts over the manager’s future it would also appear that the club are ready to clear out the 31-year old.

Spanish news source Marca claims that a return to Juventus could very well be on the cards, even though it appears he is unlikely to be part of their first team squad with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala ahead of him.

Chelsea’s transfer ban could potentially see the club reluctantly keep him on-loan for another season, especially so if Olivier Giroud decides to call-time on his Blues career – his contract expires this summer.
