Interesting developments up in north London have led to fueled speculation that Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey could make the controversial switch to Chelsea next summer – after contract talks broke down between the Welshman and Arsenal.
There will apparently be no new contract offer, via BBC Football, for Aaron Ramsey in the coming months and he will be free to discuss a potential move in the new year for a free transfer in the summer window. The report even suggests a four-year deal had been on the table but the north London club pulled the plug, all but freeing up the Welshman to seek a new club.
talkSPORT suggests that Chelsea will be front of the queue for the 27-year old, and while the move will irk the Blues’ London rivals, the move would make sense on many levels for Maurizio Sarri’s side.
Mateo Kovacic’s deal ends next summer with the Croatian international returning to parent club Real Madrid, and Aaron Ramsey’s years of playing a passing style of football under Arsene Wenger and now Unai Emery should mean a transition to ‘Sarri-Ball’ would be seamless.
This wouldn’t be the first time this year that Chelsea have been linked to the midfielder, with the Daily Mail reporting back in July that the Blues were lining-up a £30 million move. Whether or not this transfer story had much truth is another thing, but it could have been that Chelsea felt Ramsey would sign on with Arsenal regardless of an approach.
The situation has now very much changed and the seasoned Premier League midfielder would undoubtedly slot into Sarri’s midfield next season with ease, as well as proving a goal threat to compliment attackers such as Eden Hazard, Pedro and Willian.
