Chelsea are looking into the possibility of snapping up Paris Saint-Germain’s French midfielder Adrien Rabiot, with the 23-year old’s contract running down at the end of the season – which means that he will be available either on the cheap in January or for absolutely nothing come next summer (via the Daily Star).
Adrien Rabiot is hardly on the sidelines at PSG with manager Thomas Tuchel playing the Frenchman in all of the clubs Ligue 1 games this season, in fact he has played 90 minutes minimum in all four league wins so far.
French news source L’Equipe via the Daily Star have said that Chelsea are now on the lookout to sign Adrien Rabiot as the club monitor his contract situation. That is in the wake of news that Liverpool and Rabiot’s representatives have held talks about a move to Anfield.
With Chelsea not short of quality options in midfield, including Jorginho, Eden Hazard, Willian, Kante and Kovacic it could be that Chelsea look to rubber stamp a pre-contract agreement in January – with the Frenchman joining in the summer. That could be a smart move from the Blues especially if Rabiot wants to possibly be part of a title and Champions League winning squad in Paris this season.
Bayern Munich and Juventus are also named as suitors for Rabiot and will likely prove stern competition should the midfielder fail to sign a new agreement with the French champions.
Although still only 23, Rabiot has achieved immense success in France, winning the league title four times, French Cup three times and the League Cup four times. Despite his regularity for PSG and his success at club level, he failed to make the World Cup in the summer and didn’t get selected in last week’s friendlies for his country.
