Chelsea are planning on opening contract talks with Andreas Christensen in the New Year according to reports (via The Evening Standard).
It’s been a bit of a mixed season for Chelsea thus far but one of the biggest positives has been the form of defender Andreas Christensen.
The 21-year-old returned from his two-year loan at Borussia Monchengladbach over the summer and has since asserted himself in the first-team.
Now, Chelsea are reportedly ready to open contract renewal talks with the player and his agent in the new year.
Christensen’s current deal is said to be worth £35,000 per week and is set to expire in 2021.
The club will be looking to open negotiations with a number of players in the coming months including Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois with Christensen said to be amongst them.
It’s a smart move from the club to tie down the player at Stamford Bridge. Andreas Christensen has been hugely impressive this season and at just 21, is surely one for the future as well as the present.
