Chelsea are sweating on doing a deal with stalwart German defender Antonio Rudiger as interest bubbles from his homeland for the 27-year-old, whose contract expires in 2022.
According to a report via Sky Sports, both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are keen to entice the reliable German international back to the Bundesliga in the next transfer window, but Chelsea are getting talks underway now to avoid a major tussle to retain him.
Having endured a frustrating first half of the season due to injury, his return to the Blues squad in December has helped Frank Lampard’s side to hold on to fourth in the Premier League, with just nine games to go.
The new contract on-offer would see Rudiger tied to an improved deal until 2023, with a further option of a year added on [until 2024].
The Blues are expected to rebuild further in Lampard’s own vision when the transfer window reopens and the names on the list could be make or break to ensure the club hold on to their most experienced central defender.
