Chelsea are ticking along nicely under the charge of Italian boss Maurizio Sarri, whose ‘Sarri-Ball’ tactics are bearing fruit in the wake of a somewhat disappointing 2017/18 season and turbulent summer.
This is the first time since the 2014/15 season that Chelsea have won all four opening matches in the Premier League, and that season saw former boss Jose Mourinho lead the Blues to the league title.
The stats continue to point favourably on Sarri’s era at the club, with the Italian becoming just the sixth manager in the history of the Premier League to win all four of first matches as manager – he joins Pep Guardiola (Man City), Guus Hiddink (Chelsea), Carlo Ancelotti (Chelsea), Jose Mourinho (Chelsea) and Craig Shakespeare (Leicester).
The game at the weekend was another gritty display in breaking down Bournemouth’s defensive resolve, but the Blues have once again produced a victory where they failed last season. Marcos Alonso was arguably the man to unlock the door, attacking down the left and helping play his part in both goals scored by Pedro and Eden Hazard.
