Chelsea’s latest win in the Premier League unbeaten run has lifted them to second in the table, just two points off Manchester City, and ahead of Liverpool on goal difference.

An Alvaro Morata double and a Pedro goal saw off a Crystal Palace side who are now hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone.

Much was made pre-match whether or not Maurizio Sarri would go with Eden Hazard from the start, but instead opted for a second-half substitute role – from which Hazard’s free-kick that got Alvaro Morata’s second of the day in west London.

Chelsea Player Ratings vs Crystal Palace

Kepa Arrizabalaga – 6
Didn’t have the busiest afternoon in a Chelsea shirt and will frustrated at not keeping a clean-sheet – but it was a quality finish from Palace’s Andros Townsend.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 5

David Luiz – 6

Antonio Rüdiger – 6

Marcos Alonso – 6
Seven assists and counting for Alonso who got another today, with a quality cross to find fellow Spanish international Pedro for the third goal.

N’Golo Kante – 6

Jorginho – 7
Is the key of Maurizio Sarri’s midfield, appears to be completely trusted and is repaying the faith with a controlling performance against Palace.

Ross Barkley – 6

Willian – 5
Not a great performance by the Brazilian and is starting to bare the brunt of the supporters who are seeing too many inconsistent and inefficient displays. Subbed off on the 64th minute for Eden Hazard.

Pedro – 7

Alvaro Morata – 8
The Spaniard’s goal woes appear, if just for now, behind him – that’s three Premier League goals in two games for Morata. Probably should have had a hat-trick on the day but a top performance from the striker.

Chelsea Player Ratings – Substitutes

Cesc Fabregas – 6

Eden Hazard – 8
He’s back! Eden Hazard’s instant impact killed the game at Stamford Bridge – winning a free-kick and assisting the goal for Morata. Game changer.

Mateo Kovacic – 7
