Chelsea are now 11 points off the top of the Premier League after a deserved victory at Watford in the Premier League on Boxing Day.
Just minutes before half-time Eden Hazard put the Blues ahead and the goal also marked a century of Chelsea goals for the Belgian – 100 for the club (79 scored in the Premier League). However, just when it looked like Maurizio Sarri’s side would head into half-time with the lead Roberto Pereyra volleyed a superb equaliser three minutes into injury-time.
In the 58th minute order was restored as Eden Hazard began his route to a second century by bagging his 101st goal for the Blues, from the penalty spot after being bundled over by goalkeeper Ben Foster.
Victory for Chelsea saw the club stay in fourth on 40 points, just four behind Manchester City who slipped to third after another surprising defeat in the league.
The game at Vicarage Road was also bittersweet for youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi who came on for an injured Pedro in the 43rd minute, but was then harshly subbed in the 85th minute – seemingly for tactical reasonings from the manager.
