Manager Frank Lampard and Chelsea are ready to launch a transfer swoop on Real Madrid when the transfer window re-opens, for the signature of impressive wing-back Achraf Hakimi – via a report in the Sun.

The Algerian international, 21, is currently on-loan at Borussia Dortmund in Germany from Madrid and has been putting up some very impressive numbers – 10 assists and seven goals in the Bundesliga and Champions League this season.

Chelsea’s defence at times this season has been culpable for some soft goals, however the Blues remain firmly in the top four despite a leaky defence.

Frank Lampard will surely be keen to sure up the defence ahead of his second season in-charge, and with little indication that Real Madrid want to keep Achraf Hakimi, and Dortmund reportedly not having an ‘option to-buy’ in their loan agreement, the Algerian could prove a shrewd buy for the Blues.

Chelsea currently have César Azpilicueta and Reece James who operate at right-back, but with both being rotated throughout the campaign, it could be that the Blues want to put faith in a new addition to make that position his own come next season.
