Corinthians’ 20-year old attacker Pedrinho was supposedly offered out by his agent to some of Europe’s top clubs this past January and during the now closed summer transfer window – with Chelsea among the clubs to reject making a bid (via Daily Star).
It may not be all that surprising to see clubs like Chelsea spurning the chance to sign the 20-year at this time, with his stats hardly tearing it up – two goals and two assists in 38 appearances in Brazil’s elite competitions, including the Copa Libertadores.
The other clubs reportedly contacted via Pedrinho’s agent were Premier League rivals Liverpool, as well as Ajax and Paris Saint-Germain.
Chelsea along with the other clubs mentioned have been up-front reluctant to meet the sizeable transfer fee, but are likely to keep close tabs on the the Brazilian to see if he can indeed live up to the hype of the £45m-price tag.
Pedrinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian is well-known in the football world with his most notable client being Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho. Joorabchian cut his teeth in the Premier League when he brought Carlos Tevez to West Ham United, then to Manchester United and controversially to Manchester City for a then British record transfer fee.
