Chelsea fans will be intrigued to see that scouts of the club have apparently been watching one of Europe and Africa’s hottest prospects, Ismaila Sarr at Rennes – currently valued by the French club at around £50 million.
Sarr impressed at the World Cup for Senegal in the three group stage matches before being eliminated – but with starts in all the games Sarr has put himself right in-front of the transfer shopping window and big clubs are now taking notice, including Chelsea.
The Sun report that the race to sign one of the World Cup’s most impressive youngsters is well and truly on, with the likes of Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool all in the mix – so if the Blues are serious about bringing in the 20-year old there would be appear to be stern competition.
The SunSport carry quotes from Ismaila Sarr’s agent Thierno Seydi who has confirmed that the Rennes winger is potentially available to the right club willing to give the 20-year old game-time;
“He has the same qualities as Dembele of Barcelona. They are similar players.”
“I have received many calls from English and German clubs and maybe even one from Italy.”
“Many agents from the UK have called me proposing to work with them and Ismaila to get him to the Premier League.”
“One Italian agent asked to speak with Juventus. The price will be around 50-60m Euros.”
Sarr’s senior career to-date has seen him rack up 55 games in the French top-flight, scoring 10 and assisting an additional 10.
Barcelona could very well be the biggest threat to clubs interested in Sarr, with the Catalans having already expressed interest last summer according to the player’s agent. However, it would appear that Barcelona aren’t short of options in attack.
If Willian and Hazard, or at least one of them leaves in this transfer window, the possibility of signing a player with Sarr’s pace could be a possibility if Maurizio Sarri and the Chelsea scouts align on recruitment before the deadline on August 9th.
