Frank Lampard may just have a little extra cash in the transfer kitty when the window reopens with a report in Sports Mole confirming that Chelsea will be receiving an obligatory £48million cash boost this July.

The hefty amount of transfer funds is for the Alvaro Morata loan-deal, which saw Atletico Madrid sign an 18-month agreement turning into an obliged permanent transfer – that comes into effect this July.

Atletico Madrid may be feeling that this is a deal that has come at the wrong time, with all of football taking a financial hit, and with La Liga yet to get the green light to resume play, £48m will be a huge outgoing this summer.

Morata, 27, hasn’t exactly lit up the Madrid giants, scoring just 18 times since departing Chelsea back in January 2019.

The Spanish striker will officially leave Chelsea in the summer with a final-record of 24 goals in 72 appearances – winning the FA Cup and Europa League with the Blues.
