Good news for Chelsea fans today as one deal is taking up all the headlines in the news today another is being reported in L’Equipe via the Metro, and that’s that midfielder N’Golo Kante is on the verge of agreeing a bumper new contract with the Blues.
N’Golo Kante, now 27, was in the summer linked with a move to Paris St-Germain on the back of winning the World Cup with France. However, the report in France states that Kante just wants a wage that will reflect his value to the team now and going forward and it’s said that the deal will put him up with the very top earners in the Premier League.
A whirlwind career in England has seen Kante win the Premier League twice with Chelsea and Leicester, as well as lifting the FA Cup earlier this year. A key member of what is now Maurizio Sarri’s Blues side – the club are seemingly determined to lock in the rest of the Frenchman’s peak years to be in west London.
The current form of the side (unbeaten in the league and cups) has boosted the mood around the club significantly after the departure of former boss Antonio Conte. Returning to Champions League football is paramount and the form of the side signifies that indeed will be the case next season. As such N’Golo Kante, say L’Equipe, will sign a new contract in the coming weeks.
The France manager Didier Deschamps applauded Maurizio Sarri’s recent handling on N’Golo Kante (via quotes in the Metro), who has been given a licence to play in the midfield, contrary to his more rigid defencive positions in the past;
He has more freedom. He is very comfortable with the ball, so it doesn’t cause him any problems. He’s always having fun.”
