It should be a big summer for Chelsea in the coming months, not only do they have to make a big decision about the managerial situation, they also have to decide which are the right players to bring in to freshen up the squad and win the title back from Man Utd.
Roman Abramovich has proven in the last year that he is still very much committed to Chelsea, he has put his hands in his very deep pockets to bring youngsters Ramires and David Luiz to the club as well as club record signing Fernando Torres, who Chelsea are likely to see the best out of next season. More young stars are likely to be joining the club in the next few months and it is interesting to see who the bookies think are on their way to Stamford Bridge.
One of the names most strongly linked in the past twelve months is Brazilian whizzkid Neymar and Chelsea remains his most likely destination according to reporters and the bookies alike. He would be joining countrymen Alex, Ramires and David Luiz if he joined Chelsea and being one of the most talked about young players in world football it seems certain that Chelsea are interested, they are just 5/4 favourites to sign the attacker currently and that could be a good bet, the bookies think he is Chelsea’s most likely signing this summer.
Another player who has been strongly linked with Stamford Bridge for the past couple of years is Sergio Aguero and the Argentinean forward has apparently told his club Atletico Madrid that he wants to leave this summer. Chelsea are only third favourites to sign Aguero at 7/1 having already splashed out £50m on Fernando Torres, Chelsea could still make a move though if Didier Drogba moves on, which is something the press think is quite likely.
The bookies disagree with the press when it comes to Drogba’s future, Chelsea are favourites to be Drogba’s club at the start of next season but it is a close run thing. Chelsea are rated at 6/4 whilst Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid remains his next best option at 7/4 ahead of Man City at 5/1. The sale of Drogba could free up a bit more cash but other targets remain unclear, Chelsea are currently third or fourth favourites to sign the likes of Carlos Tevez, Wesley Sneijder and Gareth Bale.
