The transfer rumours continue to circulate for all the big clubs but it seems Chelsea’s summer spending spree is about to commence now that Andre Villas-Boas has finally been appointed. The latest bookies’ odds give a good idea about who will be going where in the next couple of months before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Many Porto players who Andre Villas-Boas coached to European glory last season have already been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, following their former manager to England, and it seems by far the most likely of the Porto players to be joining Chelsea is striker Falcao, who had an amazing goalscoring record in the Europa League. He is a world class finisher, especially with his head, and is just 1/3 currently to join Chelsea before the summer transfer window closes. The main question mark over this transfer though is where it would leave £50m signing Fernando Torres who has surely been bought to do the same job.

Another player who could have no future at Stamford Bridge if another striker is bought is youngster Daniel Sturridge, who was great at Bolton in the second half of the season but has so far struggled to make an impact at Chelsea. Most fans would like to keep hold of him but he could be on the move to find first team football, Bolton and Newcastle head the queue to sign Sturridge, both are available at 3/1, whilst Aston Villa are 4/1 to sign Sturridge and Fulham are 6/1.

The player who has been most strongly linked with Chelsea so far this summer is Tottenham’s Luka Modric, Chelsea have already had a £22m bid turned down and it is thought Chelsea are preparing an improved offer. It looks very likely that Chelsea will get their man according to the bookies as Modric is 1/2 to become a Chelsea player this summer. It sounds as though he wants to leave and the only stumbling block could be the fee as Spurs don’t want to sell and have the Croatian on a long contract.

Should Chelsea miss out on Modric they could turn their attentions to joint World Cup top scorer Wesley Sneijder, who may turn out to be a better signing anyway as he chips in with far more goals than Modric does. Sneijder is likely to stay at Inter this summer but should he move on Chelsea looks by far his most likely destination as you can get 4/5 that the Dutch attacking midfielder joins Chelsea, Man Utd could also offer some competition for his signature but they are 6/4 to sign him.
