With just two months until the transfer window reopens, speculations continues to mount regarding who Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri will opt to bring in this January, to compete with Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata up-front.
The latest rumblings in Bleacher Report, are linking the Blues with a move former Liverpool striker Suso, who is currently in-form for AC Milan – the 24-year old Spaniard scored his most recent goal in the club’s 2-1 victory over Genoa yesterday.
Having only scored one goal for Liverpool in 21 appearances, a move for the Spaniard might seem a bit puzzling, but Suso has so far scored four goals and assisted seven in his last 10 Serie A appearances for Milan.
The report from TuttoMercatoWeb via Bleacher Report also says that Atletico Madrid are in the mix and monitoring the situation – especially so with the reasonably priced €38m release clause.
The potential sticking point in any deal, despite the clause, will be tempting Suso out of Milan, where he is apparently happy and seeking a one-year contract extension.
AC Milan are seemingly trying to correct their stagnation period and make a return to the Champions League, so selling one of the league’s top players (directly involved in goals) would surely be a backward step. So unless Chelsea can offer guarantees and tempt Suso out of the San Siro, financially, Maurizio Sarri’s advances are likely to hit a wall.
