Chelsea return to action for the first time since the 8th March, where they romped Everton 4-0 to ensure Champions League qualification remains firmly in their own hands. Sunday sees the Blues travel to Aston Villa and a reunion of sorts with John Terry (assistant manager at Villa).
Manager Frank Lampard spoke to reporters ahead of the game on Zoom and confirmed his Chelsea line up vs Aston Villa will only miss two players through injury, but on the flip side revealed Ruben Loftus-Cheek is fit for selection (via the official Chelsea FC site);
“Fikayo Tomori has a muscle injury, probably from the stresses of trying to get fit quickly. He has an injury that will probably keep him out for 10 days or so.”
“Callum Hudson-Odoi had a small injury earlier in the training process, and he’s not match fit, albeit he’s physically fit now.”
“He is looking fit. He’s taken part in our training games. He’s worked really hard, Ruben, to get back. It was a very difficult injury he had and we’ve really missed him this season
Jorginho will miss out on a place in the Chelsea line up vs Aston Villa due to suspension after collecting 10 yellow cards, which is likely to see the midfield include N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic.
Billy Gilmour could also be in with a shout of starting in midfield, if Lampard decides to leave out Willian and Pedro, which would likely see Mount go alongside Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic in attack.
Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are tipped to line up as the full-backs, with Antonio Rudiger and Kurt Zouma filling the central defensive positions.
