Chelsea are weighing up a second offer of around £7 million to land Spanish right back, Cesar Azpilcueta.
After having their first £5.4 million offer turned down by Marseille, the next offer is said to be worth nearer to £9 million once appearence bonuses are added.
Marseille have stated that they need the money after a recent slump and are willing to sell the highly rated 22-year-old, but only for the right price. Reports suggest that they are looking for around the £10 million mark.
So surely now a negotiation will be reached between the two clubs and this one should be wrapped up by next week.
Chelsea Chief Executive Ron Gourlay has recently stated Chelsea’s desire to purchase top young talents, and they have already added quality young talent to their squad this season, purchasing Eden Hazard, Marko Marin and Oscar Dos Santos. Now they look to add to that with Azpilicueta and Hulk.
The Chelsea transition continues, and with Roman Abramavich’s financial muscle, they are looking to be a real force in European football next season. Rival managers will be watching cautiously.
