Chelsea are looking to offer their seemingly out of favour left-back Emerson Palmieri as a ‘bargaining chip’ to secure top defensive target Declan Rice from West Ham United.

The report via the Sun states that Chelsea’s transfer chief Marina Granovskaia is keen to secure a deal in the coming weeks and will look to offer the Italian international to tempt West Ham to soften their stance.

Emerson is of interest to West Ham, but not in a swap deal, potentially meaning Chelsea will have to splash out all the cash on securing Declan Rice.

The 21-year-old international started West Ham’s opening day Premier League 0-2 defeat to Newcastle.
