Chelsea will be salivating at the latest reports emerging that their flop midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is being targeted by French Ligue 1 champions Paris St-Germain.
The report in the Daily Mail states that Chelsea’s midfielder is almost certainly set to depart permanently when the window reopens, having spent the last two seasons out on-loan at AC Milan and Monaco.
Chelsea signed Tiemoue Bakayoko for around £40 million in 2017, making him the second-highest paid players in Blues history at the time, behind Fernando Torres. However, Bakayoko made just 29 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, scoring and assisting twice.
PSG are now emerging as the frontrunners for Bakayoko and are likely to meet Chelsea’s demand of £40m, with current club Monaco seemingly unwilling to pay the fee that would take him back to the Principality permanently.
Tiemoue Bakayoko is likely to jump at the chance to sign with the Parisian giants having been born in the French capital, it would mark quite a move for a player arguably stagnating for a number of seasons.
