The news breaking on Friday is that Chelsea have been banned from making any new signings for the next two transfer windows.

The ban was approved after it was found that Chelsea breached Fifa rules in relation to international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18.

There’s also a heavy fine slapped on the Blues, with the Football Association also suffering a fine from FIFA in relation to the case.

Chelsea have been reportedly given six months to address their current situation and get their house in order.

The news is a nightmare scenario for Blues fans, which means Chelsea can’t sign new players until the summer of 2020 – players can still be sold and be released in accordance to the ban however.

Chelsea now face a number of pressing questions – do they sack Maurizio Sarri and try and entice a new manager that won’t be able to sign anyone for another year at least? Who will the club replace Eden Hazard with if he departs in the summer? Would a leading managerial candidate like Zinedine Zidane want anything to do with the club without being to sign his own players?

More on this story as it develops.
